General Information
Here you will find all the necessary information on how to register as a Credit Information Provider and access the resources available to registered lenders.
Please review the sections below for detailed guidance on registration requirements, your obligations under the Credit Reporting Act, and the resources available to you once registered. If you have any specific queries, you can consult the Lender FAQ or submit an enquiry.
What is a Credit Information Provider
Under the Credit Reporting Act 2013, a Credit Information Provider includes:
- Regulated financial services providers
- NAMA
- Local authorities
- Entities that provide credit, excluding banks, central banks, and pawnbrokers.
The reporting obligations apply to over 600 lenders, such as banks, credit unions, local authorities, and asset finance companies and high cost credit providers. If you've acquired a loan book from an Irish financial institution, these obligations also apply to you.
Please note that registration applies only to your obligations under the Credit Reporting Act, and additional authorisation from the Central Bank may be required for certain activities.
Who can register for the Lender Area
To access the Lender Area, you must:
- Be a Credit Information Provider (Lender) as defined in the Credit Reporting Act.
- Possess a Provider Code and a Registration Number issued by the Central Bank.
For more information, you can check the List of Credit Information Providers or make an enquiry if you've lost or never received your credentials.
