How the Central Credit Register works

1. Since 30 June 2017, lenders who provide consumer loans (credit cards, mortgages, personal loans and overdrafts) have submitted information to the Central Credit Register.

Since 31 March 2018 lenders who provide moneylender loans, local authority loans and business loans have submitted information to the Central Credit Register.

2. The Central Credit Register processes data to create and maintain an accurate and up-to-date credit report for each borrower.

3. Credit reports may be requested by borrowers and lenders. Each request is recorded on the credit report as a footprint.
