Lenders including banks, credit unions, and any other lender that provides consumer loans of €500 or more, will submit personal and credit information on loans existing on 30 June 2017 to the Central Credit Register. This snapshot includes information such as number of overdue payments if any, and amount outstanding at that time. This snapshot will be sent on a monthly basis thereafter.
Personal information is collected to ensure that loans and borrowers are correctly matched on the Central Credit Register.
Credit information includes positive credit information, for example that a payment has been made; and negative credit information, for example that a payment has not been made. This information will build up over time until five years of transactions are shown on your credit report.
Your credit report does not contain a score or rating from the Central Credit Register.
Each time a lender accesses your credit report, they leave a digital footprint. Each footprint is a record of the date, the lender name, and the reason why that particular lender sought your credit report.
The footprint is shown at the end of your credit report and is retained for 5 years after a lender has accessed your credit report. Click here to see who can get a credit report.
